I have had my struggles with the idea of being a mother. On one hand, I'm terribly curious what my children might turn out like. On the other hand, I don't want to be a Mother.

If I were male, I would have children by now.

This Salon article really does a good job explaining what I mean.

They have forged their own family and it is a system that works for them. Good for them!

I get flak, sometimes, for the relationship C. and I have. We take separate vacations, we have separate (albeit pushed together) queen-sized beds, we eat different meals, we have an easy independence built into our relationship that is alien to a lot of people; but it works for us.

I think that's the bottom line. What works for you? What keeps you in each others' or your kids' lives?

Hater's gonna hate.

Examine the myth of the traditional family.

Ahhhh... guys. Confession time.
I'm an asshole.

For a long time now I've been very 'look down my nose' about Wal-Mart. Look down my nose AND homg Wal-Mart is evil.

Just watched a Penn and Teller's Bullshit episode about Wal-Mart and now those reasons I had for hating Wal-Mart are just not holding water.

Part One

And I suspect my sneering at Wal-Mart is borne of having escaped the poverty I grew up with because I do the same thing to Zellers.

Ugh. Even if Penn & Teller aren't 100% accurate with their show (no clue, are they?) I have enough questions about WHY I say I hate Wal-Mart that I can't, legitimately, hate on it anymore.
