I ate very delicious beef tenderloin and RICE today! w00t! It helps make up for how horrible my IBS has been today. Note to self: no more of that caffeine-laced tea for you, stick to tisanes.

I needed new sunglasses so I drove to the mall to do a bit of shopping.

The heat nearly killed me. Don't laugh, it was 22C (71.6F). XD I am still a fragile little snowflake until I toughen up against the heat a bit. When I think about living in, say, southern California or Texas my namby pamby Canuckistan mind futzes with anticipated heatstroke.

Anyways, you can't go to the mall for JUST sunglasses... I picked up Chuck season one on DVD. I was hemming and hawing about maybe getting Blu-Ray but I really want to loan this around to friends. Unfortunately, I don't like the quality of the DVDs on my HD set up. Boooo! I've been spoiled by the HD episodes I've downloaded. Looks like I'll be giving the DVDs to my brother for his birthday and grabbing the Blu-Ray for myself.

I also picked out a couple of shirts, a new nightgown (mine has very rude holes in it), and batteries for my Mediagate controller. I know, EXCITING ISN'T IT?

I then spent the afternoon... wait for it this is the super exiting bit... DOING MY ACCOUNTING! Wooo! Month-end! GST filing! Invoicing! *throws papers about like a mad thing* SO MUCH EXCITEMENT! I still have to mail off my invoices but I'm nearly there. I had wanted to spend the afternoon writing but yeah, that didn't happen. I still have to write a few development quotes and get them out too, I'm a week late on those. I think my uncharacteristic tardiness in this matter means I really don't want to do any more development for a while. =\ Ah well, I'll quote them and see how it goes. Maybe they'll flake out when they see the price.

I am officially undependable now when it comes to art, comics, writing. Your best chance to get something out of me that isn't related to web development is to make it short, sweet, and due ASAP. I can't even get my adrenal glands to function any more for that boost of last-minute energy. *floops over* I really need some recharge time. Like, a year of recharge time. Maybe two years. Or maybe I need to sell all my worldly possessions and live in a shack on a beach for a while. Mmmmm...

Okay, these invoices aren't going to fold themselves. *gets back to work*

I watched Shades of Ray.

I'd ordered the DVD a couple of weeks ago but between W. going to Disneyland and my schedule I hadn't been able to watch it; I am VERY glad I made the time!

The official synopsis:
American-born Ray Rehman comes home one night to find his Pakistani father on his doorstep. Ray's Caucasian mother threw him out. It's an awkward time for his father to move in as Ray just proposed to his Caucasian girlfriend - who hasn't given him an answer. While trying to get his parents back together, Ray meets a South Asian girl of mixed descent, just like him, and must decide where his identity truly lies.

Shades of Ray is a comedic, heartfelt tale about the idiosyncrasies that make family and relationships so unique, no matter how or where they originate.

FINALLY a movie that addresses the stickier bits of being biracial and looking for love and identity.

I bought the movie for Zac Levi and he didn't fail to entertain. He reminds me a bit of Leslie Nielsen in that he can handle romantic and comedic roles with equal strength. (If you don't believe me about Leslie and romance, try watching some of his earlier work! I was quite surprised.) Levi gets better with every performance. (I'd love to see him tackle a serious villain role; something about friendly-looking villains always appeals to me.)

Everyone's performances were great with a special nod towards Brian George for really making Ray's dad a sympathetic character instead of an inflexible stereotype.

And for those of you following the racebending issue with the Avatar the Last Airbender movie, you might be interested to know 'Shades of Ray' addresses casting in Hollywood. The trailers have an excerpt from a casting call.

Great film; totally worth the money I spent buying it from Amazon.
